What is Critical Wavelength and Boots Star Rating?
First, let's understand the differences between types of UV rays:

UVA This ray penetrates deep into the skin, causing photo-aging, wrinkles, dark spots, sagging, and pigmentation. It also releases free radicals that can induce skin cancer or melanoma.

UVB This ray affects the skin's surface, leading to redness, sunburn, stinging, blistering, and peeling. It is the primary cause of tanning.

UVC These rays are absorbed by the atmosphere and do not reach the ground, so they do not cause direct damage to the skin.

You might ask: "Why does the bottle only show SPF50? Isn't SPF only a measure of UVB protection? Why aren't UVA factors listed?" Actually, a qualified sunscreen must protect against more than just one type of radiation. We use two key metrics to judge a product's true efficacy: Critical Wavelength and Boots Star Rating.

Critical Wavelength

The Critical Wavelength measures the "Breadth" of a sunscreen's protection. As the wavelength of UV radiation increases, a sunscreen's ability to protect eventually drops. The specific point where this protection sharply declines is defined as the "Critical Wavelength."

The Meaning The higher the number, the broader the spectrum of protection.

The Standard If a product's critical wavelength reaches 370nm or higher, it indicates that the protection is well-balanced across both UVB and UVA spectra (Broad Spectrum).

Advanced Level Products exceeding 380nm are considered "advanced tier" in terms of broad-spectrum defense.

No Added Performance Our Pure and Weightless Sunscreen Milk achieves a critical wavelength of 381nm, providing superior defense against both UVA and UVB rays.

Boots Star Rating

The Boots Star Rating calculates the "Evenness" of protection. Originally developed by the UK company Boots, it is determined by dividing the UVA protection factor by the UVB protection factor.

The Meaning The closer the result is to 1, the more uniform the protection is across the entire UV spectrum.

The Goal A higher star rating means the product offers more consistent and comprehensive defense, ensuring no "gaps" in protection that could leave your skin vulnerable to specific UV damage.

No Added Performance Our sunscreen has achieved a ★★★ (3-Star) rating, ensuring reliable and balanced coverage for your skin.

The Boots Star Rating for the Ocean Friendly Sunscreen is ★★★ (3 stars).

What is Ocean-Friendly? Does Sunscreen affect the sea if I don't go to the beach?

Ocean-Friendly
This refers to products that "do not contain ingredients that harm coral reefs or endanger marine ecosystems."
While the sunscreen we apply at the beach protects our skin from sun damage, many formulas cause coral bleaching, which severely impacts marine life. Statistics show that up to 14,000 tons of sunscreen enter the ocean every year. Activities like diving and surfing allow these chemicals to enter the ocean "directly," making us unintentional contributors to ecological damage.

Can sunscreen still harm the ocean if I don't go to the beach?
Protecting the ocean starts with our daily lives! Research indicates that 70% of sunscreen ingredients entering the ocean come from "wastewater discharge systems," while only 30% comes from direct washing off at the beach. This means that when we shower or wash our clothes, sunscreen residues are flushed into the drainage system and eventually reach the sea, "indirectly" affecting coral reefs and marine ecosystems.

Which ingredients in sunscreens cause coral bleaching?

63% of the ingredients in traditional sunscreens are considered harmful to marine ecosystems, human health, or both.

no added Sunscreen is 100% natural and scientifically proven to be safe and harmless to coral reefs, marine wildlife, and human health. All ingredients used in this sunscreen comply with the GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe and Effective) standards under the US FDA Sunscreen Monograph.

Our formula contains none of the over 10 sunscreen ingredients banned by governments in regions like Palau and Hawaii. We ensure that no controversial chemical filters enter the ocean through household wastewater, protecting our marine ecosystems at the source.

📌Active Ingredients

⛱ Titanium Dioxide (Reflects Sunlight) A physical sunscreen agent that uses particles to reflect, scatter, and refract UV rays, preventing them from damaging the skin. Replacing chemical filters not only makes it coral-friendly but also gentler on the skin, allowing us to protect the planet while maintaining a bright complexion.

⛱ Dipotassium Glycyrrhizinate (Extracted from Licorice) Known as "Whitening Gold," this precious substance offers powerful antioxidant benefits. It effectively reduces skin sensitivity, soothes irritation, enhances the skin's defensive barriers, and improves elasticity and hydration.

⛱ Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) Renowned for its soothing and hydrating properties, it helps fade freckles and dark spots, evens out skin tone, and improves dullness. It brightens the skin while reducing pore congestion.

⛱ Centella Asiatica (Cica) Extract Improves redness and acne-prone skin. It calms and soothes sensitivity and discomfort, provides anti-inflammatory benefits, delivers refreshing hydration, and balances oil production.

⛱ Anti-Allergic Tetrapeptide (High-End Soothing Factor) Effectively relieves discomfort such as redness, swelling, heat, and itching caused by sensitivity or inflammation. It calms skin irritation from the environment and increases skin tolerance.

⛱ Purple Rice Extract Sourced from the pollution-free Coastal Mountains of Hualien and irrigated with premium natural spring water, this rare extract is highly precious due to limited production. Extracted from rice bran, its antioxidant capacity reaches 70%, effectively delaying the signs of aging.

⛱ Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C Derivative) Recognized by the WHO and clinically proven to fade dark spots, reduce wrinkles, and brighten skin tone. It also provides firming, soothing, and repairing benefits.

Ethical Standards

  • 100% Vegan and Cruelty-Free.
